Why surfing should be an Olympic sport

Since the first settlers and islanders were born there have always been surfers. From old palm fronds tied together to the modern day high-tech streamlined surf board, humans have always had an interest in surfing. Why isn’t surfing featured at the Olympics? Everyone loves it and is globally known yet it isn’t at the Olympics?

In the early days of competitive surfing only men surfed competitively however moving forward to todays society men and women compete, with many women even being better than the men at surfing. It may have been sexist in the past but that definitely isn’t the case anymore.

Cold weather isn’t an excuse anymore. With wetsuits that can withstand negative degrees and even be used in the coldest places on Earth, anyone on the coastline can become a pro surfer athlete assuming they put in the hard work and dedication.

With the increased technology that can create naturally seeming waves in a wave pool, surfing may very well be in the 2020 Olympics. New technology, modern wetsuits and equal rights, surfing is definitely a sport this generation needs to see on a global scale. Got any comments?
